I think this is one of those lessons you learn in kindergarten.  Play nice with others.  Along the way in our quest to be the best marketers or business managers we can be, I think we might forget that lesson.  I am not suggesting you make nice with your biggest competitor.  However, you can find lessons in social media on how to play nice with others.

I can install the Twitter application on Facebook.  With these two networks playing together, my Facebook status is now up to date every time I tweet.  Hey that is time savings for me.  For the two networks they learned how to co-exist and make each other more successful.

I am testing today a plug in to this blog that will send an update to Twitter automatically.  If you are following this line of thinking - now when I  write here it goes to twitter which in turn goes to Facebook.  That my fellow marketers is now called a system.  

My own company, UniversalWit plays well with others as well.  We work with several other companies that help us build this business and in-turn we help them build as well.  After all, that is what being social is all about.

As we progress through the challenging economic issues in 2009, perhaps it is time to look to others that you can assist and can assist you as well to build a stronger business.  Consider it a refresher course in kindergarten brought to you by social media.
